As much as we love seeing new looks come down the runway season after season, there’s nothing more frustrating than having to wait months on end to actually get them into our wardrobes. The spring/summer 16 catwalks proved an interesting place to be – there were debuts a plenty from the likes of Massimo Giorgetti at Pucci, Peter Dundas at Roberto Cavalli and Arthur Arbesser at Iceberg. Well, it’s time we stopped waiting for warmer weather to roll around and started shopping this fashion month’s most popular trends — ASAP.
PEEKABOO BOUDOIR
The slip dress is back and looking slinkier than ever, trimmed with scalloped lace at Celine, in 90s satin or see-thru chiffon at Saint Laurent, and layered over fine knits at Pucci. Nightwear as daywear, underwear as outerwear, these designers elevated luxury undies to proper garms. Most often worn with black tailoring for grounding.
SHOULDER SMOULDER
The sexiest slice of skin to show for SS16, especially when accompanied by a halter-strap. Instead of straight across off-the-shoulder looks from this summer, this season we’re seeing more subtle peeks of the shoulder and uneven necklines in structured material, flawy dresses and denim. The trend for off-the-shoulder tops and voluminous sleeves showing no sign of abating.
SUNSET BOULEVARD
With the theme of lightness and brightness creating a shine in the new season collections, it most comes in the form of these happy sunset tones or citrus brights. Orange is looking like the juiciest option for fashion forward ladies.
RUFFLES FRILLS
Some were big. Some were small. Some were structured. Some were free to be breezy. Some were head to toe. Some were but a fluttering trim. Whatever the scale or intentions of these SS16 frills they were, quite simply, EVERYWHERE.
