SS14 capsule wardrobe must haves.

With the weather greatly improving, we are packing away our winter clothes and dusting off our t-shirts and shorts ready for the summer months. So we thought it was time for a post about must haves for your SS14 capsule wardrobe.

Prints – Prints are a major trend this season, with everything from florals, spots, stripes, animal prints and novelty prints such as digital vintage cars and bicycles. In the studio, we are especially loving printed trousers, our favourite are these stunning snake print in blue. These trousers are definitely a statement piece, but they are extremely versatile and you can style them with many items! We have a gorgeous collection of printed trousers available in the studio, check out our website to see more of our collection. blue snake print trouser

If printed trousers are not for you, we also have a stunning collection of silk digital printed tops, in a range of colours, prints, and sleeve length. Our must have, however, is the gorgeous roses printed top with lace sleeves and back, this top is bang on trend with the floral print and the see through lace, we love this top for a casual day look, teamed with light wash jeans, or shorts during hotter months, and a chunky wedge heel! DSC_8340-copy DSC_8343-copyFor a statement evening dress, this Dolce & Gabbana inspired roman coin dress in emerald green is definitely a head turner! Keep hair either big and bouncy or in a top knot with a contrasting deep red lip for extra wow factor! dolce & gabanna inspired dressPastels – Pastels are huge this season, in every hue from candyfloss pink and baby blues to light tans and beige to all white looks. Pastels are one of our favourite trends here at the Love Niche studio, our favourite colour being light pink shades. We adore these lightweight soft suede material jackets with the waterfall front, they are very flattering and versatile. You can dress them up for an evening or a chic daytime look with ease. We love this all pink look for a late afternoon with girlfriends, the printed trousers are extremely flattering with a higher waist fit, the light pink vest keeps the look softer instead of bright white. Team with tan or nude accessories to keep the look fresh, try to avoid black as it can be too harsh against pastel outfits. DSC_8218-copy

Leather – During hotter months you wouldn’t expect leather to be a key texture to your capsule wardrobe, but we love it! When we say leather, we don’t mean heavy leather biker jackets. Leather has had a feminine overhaul, with lightweight leather jackets with waterfall fronts, or in pastel shades! In the studio this season we have a small collection of summer leather, including a stunning two piece pencil skirt (faux leather) and real soft leather waterfall front jacket with silver beading details. Team this two piece with a plain white vest to keep it fresh and light for spring, the perfect work wear outfit. You can also team this jacket with your classic little black dress for an evening look or white skinny jeans for a daytime look!biege ensombleDropped waist – The dropped waist style skirts and dresses are making a big come back this season, and we love this trend, it is very 1920’s chic! Our Love Niche dropped waist skirt has been very popular so far this season, it comes in either black or cherry red. It is very flattering as it hugs your curves in the right places. We love this skirt teamed with a blouse and one of our statement leather waist belts which cinch in your waist perfectly. These skirts are definitely going to be a big hit this season! peach top with black peplum skirt

Metallic stitching and stud details on the vest top. These are perfect for layering and adding texture to summer looks. photo 4 (35)This beautiful white blouse is also combining major trends with the jewelled panel down the sleeves, the light fabric and slightly boxy silhouette, can easily be dressed up or down. A must have versatile piece in any wardrobe. photo 2 (49)photo 3 (39)This jacket is possibly our favourite piece in the entire collection. The super soft leather, the waterfall open front and the silver jewel bead details, just make for a beautiful summer leather! We absolutely adore it, ideal for a glam event! photo 1 (48)

Trend of the week – SS14 textures

Textures are a big deal when styling during all seasons. A lot of people associate textures mainly with A/W for layering, however textures during S/S months are a MUST. S/S14 is a season full of texture, some you would expect, such as; lace, chiffons, lightweight linens and cottons. But this season we have also been introduced to Summer leather and lots of heavy embellishment which are definitely heavier textures.

LACE – This SS14 lace has been a favourite of many designers, varying from all over lace to slight feminine lace trims and details. We are big fans of lace here at Love Niche too, so this trend is a favourite of ours. Burberry has shown lace is every way, from all over pastel blue and lilac delicate lace dresses to sheer candyfloss pink lace pencil skirts to lace blouses. Tom Ford showed a daring lace ensemble with black barely there lace in a 3 piece! Dolce & Gabbana wowed us with their SS14 collection, the black lace dress is a winner in our eyes with statement pleated sleeves teamed with high-waist hot pants and bandeau.ss14 lace

SHEER – Sheer fabrics and S/S are a must have combination, and this year it is no exception! Sheer has been shown in abundance this season, everything from silks, chiffons and gauze. Vera Wang layered her colourful sheer fabric looks for a summer chic look. J.W Anderson created some interesting folk style sheer maxi dresses with elasticated bands. For an evening look take inspiration from Tom Ford with stunning sheer length dresses.SS14 Sheer

LEATHER – An unusual texture for S/S as we generally associate leather with A/W and keeping warm. However leather has had a S/S overhaul, every thing from leather trousers, maxi skirts, jackets and dresses! Tom Ford is one of our favourite collection for leather inspiration this season, we are loving the white biker jackets and tan leather dresses! J.W Anderson has shown leather maxi skirts with sheer crop tops, texture at its best! We are also loving Dolce & Gabbana’s deep maroon leather dress with boxy 3/4 sleeves. For safari chic we love the mustard yellow croc effect leather tie skirt from Hermès. SS14 Leather

JEWELS AND METALLICS – The glitz and glam heavily jewelled looks are normally a favourite during A/W running up to the festive season, however this S/S just had a bling makeover! We have seen crystal and sequin covered dresses, heavily embellished pencil skirts, crystal and beaded trousers and jewel mosaic two pieces! Burberry has again mastered the embellished crystal look with jewelled skirts and pastel tees. Lanvin is all about the metallic fabric this season with a stunning collection. We love Isabel Marant’s fabulous jewelled trousers, perfect for an edgy summer evening outfit!SS14 Jewels and metallicsImage credit to style.com

This week’s styling tip.

photo 1 (1)This is our second post in the body shape series, where we are focusing on the fabulous ‘Hourglass’ figure! The hourglass is classed at the ideal fantasy figure for a woman, with equal proportions, gorgeous curves, ample bust, slender waist yet still with hips, thigh and a good bum! This body shape might sound easy enough to style and think that with the good proportions they would suit everything, however it can actually be one of the most difficult shapes to dress right!

If you are an hourglass you may find that when you go into some stores, especially the higher end stores that it can be a challenge to find clothes that suit your shape, and this is because designers tend to make clothes for a straight up and down figure. If you like to wear luxurious clothes you will find it easier to shop in a luxury boutique/fashion studio.

This season every hourglass should have in her wardrobe; a fitted crisp white shirt ( the fitted shirt was made you!) a pencil skirt to show off those curves, either a wrap or an a-line skirt dress. Some killer jeans, steer away from a flare leg, however if you like bootcut jeans go for a dark wash and make sure they have large pockets on the bum. Straight/slim leg trousers and jeans work best for you as they show off your curves and legs, try to stay away from light wash jeans. The a-line skirt paired with a fitted top with flatter your figure to no end, wearing a dress or skirt with a slight peplum will also show off your curves however do not go over the top with the peplum as one with too much volume will just make your hips look larger than they are.

If you are a petite hourglass try and find slim trousers and jeans which are slightly high waisted as they will elongate your legs as well as drawing in your waist. Avoid clothes with no shape and definition as they will do nothing for your figure and if anything they will just make you look frumpy. Also avoid hip pockets as this will make you look disproportionate.

For the colder months when choosing your a/w coat, go for a coat which has a belt or a define waist, a mac is the ideal coat for you. Also try a cropped jacket/biker leather jacket (totally on trend!) by wearing a cropped jacket it will draw in your waist and show it off. Stay away from boxy jackets even if they are on trend this season!!

We have styled 3 outfits, 1 look with a pencil skirt, 1 with a dress and cropped fur and 1 trouser look, to show you how we would style your body shape during this season!

First we have a work wear look with a pencil skirt, which will hug your curves and show off your waist. This skirt is in a must have colour of the season; berry! We have teamed it with a fitted white shirt which has unique box pleat details around the neck and on the cuff of the sleeves. By adding one of our new belts that have just landed in the studio for A/W13 it has taken this look from day to night, finish this look off by adding a clutch, some heels and a berry lip.photo 1 (40)photo 3 (32)Next up is our autumnal dress look. This lightweight jumper dress is an extremely versatile piece to have in your wardrobe, you can dress it up or down, we have added a cropped berry fur bolero jacket which is gorgeous for your shape. We would finish this look with some earrings a slick ponytail and a heel. This dress has no waist definition so we have added a tan belt to draw in the waist to give more shape. Just because a dress has no definition at the waist does not mean that you can’t style it to suit your shape. photo 4 (28)photo 5 (18)Last is our trouser look. These casual trousers come in black, maroon, navy and a light brown and are perfect for hourglass and triangle shapes, they skim over the hips, are ever so slightly high waisted and are a straight cut so they don’t cling to your ankle. The faux leather waist band adds texture. We have dressed this look up slightly with a gorgeous black jumper which has beautiful embellished shoulders, everybody loves a bit of bling! Again to take this look to an evening we have added a clutch bag, also team with a heel, a red lip for a pop of colour and let your hair down. photo 2 (42)photo 3 (33)Which look do you like best?! Next week we will be doing a post for inverted triangles!

This week’s styling tip.

photo 5 (17)

With the sudden change in weather last week we all realised that autumn was here! We have packed all our summer clothes away for another year and brought out the knits, furs and leathers.

Autumn is the perfect season for knits, you can wear a jumper or cardigan to keep warm without a coat. So this season the must have way to wear your knits is oversized. With a key trend being “borrowed from the boys” this season we should be thinking oversized, elbow patches, leather details, patchwork and large collars when buying new knits.

We have put together 3 looks for you to show you how we will be wearing our oversized knits, we have many styles/shapes/colours available in the studio to suit everyone.

First up we have this gorgeous heavy knitted oversized collar cardigan, we like to call it a coatigan, as it acts like a coat during the autumn. This is the perfect piece for layering, we have styled with a thin knit jumper in gorgeous warm colours. The skinny black trousers keep this look classic, however you could wear coloured jeans or add some texture with leather trousers. Simple silver jewellery finishes this look perfectly. photo 2 (38)photo 1 (37)Our second look is for those who like to wear colourful knits. Yellow is a surprisingly big colour this season, normally we associate yellow with spring/summer however it is brightening up our wardrobes this autumn! This oversized waterfall cardigan in patchwork is another gorgeous layering piece to add to any wardrobe which could be styled for day or night. We have styled it with a cream drape blouse (worn open in the photo) with a vest layered underneath, and staple black trousers which tie in with the black and grey colours on the knit.photo 4 (26)photo 3 (30)Our final look is more casual, we love the contrast between skinny leggings and the heavily oversized off the shoulder jumper. This jumper is so luxurious, it is super soft, mohair knits are the most wanted knits of the season. We have styled this look with a woolen scarf which has a tartan print (must have print of the season!) this scarf actually has a tiger printed on it, with the tiger being tartan, you can just make out his head & tail! The blue tartan also matches the dark rich blue leggings.photo 1 (38)photo 2 (39)Will you be wearing your knits oversized this autumn? …we hope so!

This weeks style tip!

photo 1 (25)Autumn is our favourite season of the year, in our eyes its when the real dressing starts, we move away from floaty summer dresses, short shorts, skimpy tops and bring back out our structured jackets, cable knit jumpers and of course the textures; leather, lace and fur. In Britain of course we are used to cold drab weather, so we love to layer to keep out the chill!

The Love Niche Studio has just got in the new autumn/winter collection, with some truely amazing seasonal must haves! The outfits below are our take on how we would layer during this transitional period between summer/autumn!

Our first look is this gorgeous colour block playsuit (playsuits arent just for summer!) The cobalt colour is bang on trend again this season! We have added a dark navy blue real leather biker style jacket, with quilting on the shoulders (another major a/w trend!) and a woolen scarf, we have gave you two colour options; first is using a scarf which also features the main colour of your outfit, in this case it is cobalt blue with a hint of red, this keeps this look fresh and stylish, using another bold colour would ruin this look and make it too fussy.

The second look is using a nude scarf, if using a nude scarf, try to keep all your accessories the same, for example add a nude heel and a tan bag. This Love Niche nude colour scarf is absolutely gorgeous and so soft, with the added lace it adds another texture and dimension to this look! photo 1 (24)photo 2 (26)photo 3 (18)Our second look is keeping it simple with a twist. We have styled our best selling indigo stretch jeans with a black sheer blouse which has the most amazing gold embroidered collar, with a knitted golden sequin jumper, the textures work really nice together, the slouchy jumper keeps this look relaxed and not too dressy. photo 4 (15)photo 2 (27)Our last look is a bit more classic. These gorgeous black trousers have just landed in the studio, they are an amazing fit, they have a tapered leg to stop them from billowing and a faux leather elasticated waist band. We have gone for a monochrome look with (another new arrival) this dipped hem cream blouse. We have introduced a minimal print with the cream snake print scarf, to keep this look interesting and not boring, and added some colour through the bracelet. photo 3 (19)For when the weather starts to get a bit bitter, we have teamed the above look with our favourite boxy biker jacket! photo 4 (16)

OOTD; Neon day to night

20130703-194757.jpg

Neon has been one of our favourite trends this summer, we just can’t get enough! So we thought we would share our take on how we would wear neon day to night using the same bold cobalt peplum top and amazing colour clashing neon heels.

Our daytime look is quite bold and fun, teaming monochrome jeans (another huge trend) with the peplum top, adding a leather jacket for another texture to keep the look balanced. The neon pink scarf ties in with the pop of pink on the heels, these neon colours keep the look exciting and interesting.

For our evening look we have swapped the bold monochrome jeans for a more elegant black fitted pencil skirt, which hugs all your curves. We ditched the leather jacket and scarf and went for a neon pink box bag which also has monochrome harlequin sequin detail around the edges. The classic shapes and style of this outfit have been revamped by introducing bold brighter colours making it bang on trend!

Which look is your favourite, day or night?

This week’s style tip!

photo 5 (8)Autumn/Winter13 is right around the corner and our new stock has just landed in the studio (exciting!!) We have everything you could ever want for this up and coming season. First up though is small sneak peek of our faux leather range!

Leather has always been one of the biggest a/w trends, and this year is no exception! However it is very pricey, so faux leather is an amazing alternative! We have a gorgeous range of faux leathers in this year including pencil skirts, dresses and cropped boxy jackets so far!

First up we have this gorgeous pencil skirt (also available in deep cranberry) It is such a beautiful skirt and slightly matte in texture, it has unique exposed zip detail down the back of the skirt too. Pencil skirts are very versatile they can be dressed up or down, for work or for a night out, and this faux leather one is no exception! We have styled it with a loose fitting drape blouse in of the moment colour deep blue keeping it very simple, a lot of people say don’t pair black and blue, however rules were made to be broken we love this look!photo 1 (23)Next up we have the first of our faux leather dresses. This dress is the same material as the pencil skirt above, being slighty matte in texture. It has gorgeous metal studded detailing at the waist, which draws your eye in giving the illusion of you being slimmer, very flattering! It also has a v neck which is good for women with a bigger bust. photo 3 (17)photo 2 (24)This is our second faux leather dress, this time it has a bit of a sheen to it. The quilted fabric detailing on this dress makes it more interesting, and looks absolutely gorgeous on as it hugs your curves perfectly, it is to die for! Quilting is also set to be a future trend next season! Again, the way the quilted fabric has been placed it gives the illusion of a slimmer silhouette. photo 4 (14)photo 2 (25)Our last faux leather garment is this amazing biker style jacket! This is our favourite piece from the range so far! It looks absolutely stunning on, its boxy, cropped, has a gorgeous neckline and is extremely comfortable, everything you could ever want in a faux leather jacket, it fits like a glove! It could easily be dressed down with your killer jeans and a tee or dressed up with your fave LBD!photo 1 (22)What is your favourite piece from our faux leather range so far?!

Paris Fashion Week aw13

photo

Even though summer is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to don our bikinis and shorts while basking in the sun (ahh!), the A/W 13 collections from Fashion Week have us lusting and we are excited to go and get our A/W wardrobe!

All the shows from Milan, New York, London finishing up Paris were outstanding in our opinion this year. However we thought that Paris stole the limelight with some amazing shows;

From Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who showed a gorgeous ‘foxy‘ collection, he admitted after the show that “I’ve fallen in love with fashion again” By looking through the collection, this shows and he is very much back on the game! His “foxy lady” show was fairly colourless for the first dozen looks with a monochrome colour scheme shown in houndstooth, thick chain printed dresses, large tartan check coats and his infamous blanket dresses. However it is the enormous fox heads integrated onto tartan mini dresses that spun the heads of the fashion crowd! He then introduced blues and oranges for the rest of the collection and wowed with beautifully abstract colourful prints and black and bright orange furs.

The creative behind Hermes; Christophe Lemoire captured a thoroughly pure french chic spirit in this collection for this fall, that seemed almost darkly romantic. Earthly tones were side by side with textured monochrome throughout the show with a pop of magenta for a colour boost. This palette was displayed through oversized almost mannish coats and soft-shouldered draped cape-like overthings, mid calf skirts, high waisted gray flannel trousers and beautiful crisp fitted shirts. Texture played a huge part in the Hermes collection this season, think sheen black ponyskin coats and tops tucked into high waisted tailored trousers, suede trouser suits, long navy woolen coats with black leather and fur details, grey furs, leather and pony skin waist coats in camel and beautiful croc skin pencil skirt.

Unkle Karl (as defined by Nik Thakkar, check out his amazing blog karlismyunkle) has done it again for a/w 13-14, the Chanel show was simply exquisite. ” I’ve got my feet on the ground, but the collection is ‘up’ to Earth, not ‘down’ to Earth” From this glorious show you can see exactly what he means, it was energetic, confident, eye catching and one of the most clothes-packed runways we’ve seen with a massive 80 looks (impressive!) The majestic globe sets the scene for a very memorable collection, it was dark as night and so were the clothes, but not dull and depressing, in fact it was alight with a magical sparkle. The collection was very simple in colour mainly consisting of blacks/grey, however this did not make for a boring same old show, in fact the dark tweeds were woven with metallic threads making them glitter when light was cast on them. Layering was heavily featured, long coats that were oversize with large collars, low waisted dresses with pleated skirts, tweed suits; jackets and mini skirts in pastel hues were shown with knee high leather boots to give an edge to an otherwise sickly feminine look. Leathers, tweed, fur, and cable knitted wool were the main bulk of the collection, towards the end black chiffon was introduced, creating a very sexy yet chic look combined with fur trims and leather details including amazing 3D flower embellishments. Karl also designs the most amazing accessories, this year it was the head-wear that caught our eye the most, the unusual fur helmets that were shown in lots of different colours! Which are  (said Lagerfeld)  facsimiles of Anna Wintour herself iconic bob hairstyle!

Now a quick mention to “Saint Laurent”. With this being Hedi Slimane’s second collection for Saint Laurent we were intrigued as to what he was going to produce for the fashion house, and we were all (bloggers, media, frow-ers!!) shocked to say the least! The collection divided the fashion critics, with some applauding the designer for giving the brand a change of direction and revamping their look,  we most definitely do NOT agree!! We don’t feel that 90’s grunge is the way forward for “Yves” Saint Laurent as it is such a legendary name (please say this is just a midlife crisis!)
