SS14 earrings!

The new season is gradually starting to come in to the Love Niche Studio! Since the weather is still pretty gloomy and we can’t don our favourite S/S14 trends just yet, we have been looking for a way to introduce a bit of summer into our daily looks. Luckily, the new collection of Love Niche earrings has arrived! Everything from nude pastels, coloured stones, crystals and pearls!

We love these cream and gold disc earrings with pearl details. They could easily be worn day to night, for any occasion! For an evening look sleek your hair back off your face and let the earrings do the talking, wear with your favourite LBD and killer heels, add a red lip for extra wow factor! photo 1 (18)These stunning crescent moon earrings are perfect for an evening look! They will definitely make heads turn with the crystal and pearl details.  Either wear with a gorgeous dress or even try with leather trousers and a deep lipstick for more of an edgy glam look!photo 3 (13)We can’t get enough of these round turquoise stone earrings! They are ideal for adding a pop of colour during these gloomy months and will look stunning during summer with an all white look! To make the earrings pop even more try and wear with a clutch or heels the same colour. photo 2 (20)These unusual drop statement earrings are one of a kind. The coral stone is a gorgeous summer colour and looks stunning against the gold. The clear crystals give these earrings that extra wow factor and will definitely stand out against your LBD for an evening look! Again we would suggest to wear coral in other accessories such as your clutch, heels or a coral lipstick. You could also team with a coral blazer over your LBD to make the coral stone on the earrings pop and not get lost. photo 4 (10)

Trend of the week- SS14 silhouettes and shapes

Spring/Summer 14 is a season of beautiful shapes and silhouettes, in our opinion it is going to be a very feminine season ahead, and we love it! We have taken inspirations from many designers, not only using girly colours in our up and coming SS14 collection but also the cuts and shapes. We are loving the contrast between the feminine full skirted silhouette with cinched waist and the masculine tailoring.

DROPPED WAIST – The dropped waist dress has been quite a big hit on the runway this coming season, however it is going to be a “marmite” trend, you will either love it or hate it! Some designers have revamped the 1920’s style flapper dress such as Calvin Klein and Lanvin. Victoria Beckham has designed a gorgeous collection full of dropped hemline and cinched belted waist, very feminine chic! Roberto Cavalli has incorporated the dropped waist into the collection with stunning crochet lace maxi dresses, we adore! SS14 Dropped waist

FULL SKIRT – The full skirt is the most feminine shape of the season, this hourglass look is a must have of the season! The full skirt doesn’t have to just be below the knee, you can take inspiration from Saint Laurent and go for a fuller mini length dress! We are loving Peter Pilotto full skirted looks, with a slight dipped hem, these looks also tie into the boxy trend which is major this season with the stiff boxy fabricated crop tops. Christian Dior has designed gorgeous eye catching full skirted dresses. SS14 Full skirts

TAILORING – Tailoring is a strong look this season, but don’t just think stiff trouser suits! Tailoring is immaculately shown at Saint Laurent and Chanel with boyfriend coats and blazers teamed with skinny cut trousers. Peter Pilotto has shown a different side to tailoring with boxy overcoats and ruffled tailored skirts. Bermuda shorts are a huge trend this season, with many designers showing them in fashion week, we love Victoria Beckham’s take on Bermuda shorts. The Bermuda shorts also fit in with the relaxed tailored safari look which will be a must have style this SS14. SS14 tailoring

THE MAXI Every spring/summer the maxi makes a return on the runways, this season is no exception! Maxi skirts or maxi dresses, we urge you to introduce the maxi into your wardrobe this summer, we will be investing in bright bold printed maxi skirts for sure! Chanel showed us maxi skirts in crisp white and off the shoulder maxi dresses in tweed like fabric. We love Lanvin’s printed flowing maxi dress with thigh split. Christian Dior showed elegant pastel  high waist maxi skirts. SS14 MAXI

Trend of the week – Must have prints SS14

Last week we did our first post about the must have colours for SS14, in our series of “Trend of the week” posts. This week it is all about prints, SS14 has gone print crazy, from feminine florals to edgy abstract designs!

FLORALS – They have made an elegant triumphant return this SS14! But forget those chintzy florals! You have so much choice this season, with a broad collection of different prints ranging from pretty 3d floral clusters at Giambattista Valli, embroidered floral details at Erdem and oriental Japanese style floral prints as seen at Marni and Hermes. Elie Saab also wowed us with a gorgeous collection, the poppy print is one of our faves! SS14 FLORALS

STRIPES – We have seen lots of stripes on the runway this SS14 and we are loving them in all sizes; thick, bold or thin, horizontal and vertical! Burberry showed gorgeous thick bold horizontal striped pencil skirts and sheer skirts with bold striped knickers peeking through. Fendi showed stripes in some unusual ways by layering different shades of fabrics to create an ombre effect to their dresses. Stripes were also shown at Vanessa Bruno in the form of zebra stripes and also bold coloured striped high waisted shorts and matching tops!SS14 STRIPES

CHECKS – Last season they were huge and tartan was one of the biggest trends of the season, and they carry on with their dominance on the runway into SS14. They have had a SS14 overhaul, think colour, when picking your checks anything from candyfloss pink to acidic yellow hues! Take your inspiration from House of Holland who showed a gorgeous collection at LFW. Sass and Bide also showed checks in their SS14 collection with monochrome check and sheer white check jumpers also pink check sections on maxi skirts.SS14 CHECKS

NOVELTY – We saw a lot of unusual and eclectic prints this SS14, from fun iconic lip motif prints at Giles, to butterflies at Vanessa Bruno, then ranging to the very creatively stunning yet unusual collection at Christopher Kane who had cut out petals (some in very questionable places!!) slogan “petal” and “flower” printed jumpers and flower anatomy printed on silk and sheer dresses and jumpers. Ashish is another designer who showed a lot of slogan prints in the collections this season, a favourite being “Coca-Cola” shown on tops, dresses, jumpers with cobalt blue sequined arms and even trousers, which were also printed with Arabian words.SS14 NOVELTYImage credit to style.com

Trend of the week – Colours for SS14

With production well under way for the Love Niche SS14 collection it has made us excited for a new season! So we thought we would share a trend each week, to give you all a Love Niche crash course into the coming season!

So for our first post about the SS14 trends, we thought we would give you a glimpse into our must have colours for this season! Spring/Summer in our eyes is all about colour, whether it be a bright acidic hue or a toned down fondant pastel, we just love colour! However there are a few certain colours that we think are must haves which should be injected into every wardrobe! Adding colour into your wardrobe even by purchasing a coloured tee or some coloured accessories/jewellery is the most simple and cost effective way of keeping on top of the new season.

RED has been a massive hit this SS on the runway, and we love it! There has been every shade shown from cherry reds, to darker richer shades. When wearing red we would always keep accessories either nude, tan or black to keep your look classic. reds ss14

PINK is one of our favourite SS colours, its very feminine and goes with everything! This season you will see all tones from acid pinks, hot pinks, magenta all the way to pastel shades like candy floss pinks. If you arent a fan of pink, you can still indulge in this trend even by treating yourself to a new pink lippy!pinks ss14 trend

YELLOW, the notoriously difficult colour to wear, has made a big comeback this season. We can’t seem to get enough of this sunshine shade, you will see a lot of yellow this coming season from lemon, buttercup, sherbet and mustard! Even if you think you cant pull of yellow, we urge you to give it a go and find a shade which suits you! Try teaming a yellow fine knit layered with a white shirt underneath and dark wash skinny jeans for a casual chic look. After all it will definitely give your wardrobe a summery feeling! yellow ss14

GREEN, is not a usual summer colour hit, but we are loving it this season! Our favourite shade is mint green, and the brighter bold tones (Peter Pilotto, last 2 images, is one of our favourite collections this season!!) green hues ss14

BLUES. Blue definitely made a big appearance on the runway this season, these bright bold shades from electric blues to sky blues are going to brighten up any wardrobe this season. If you aren’t a fan of bright colours, then we would suggest adding some soft pastel blues into your wardrobe from duck egg blue to powder blues. To make the perfect summer combo add some crisp white to your blue! To inject blue into your Spring look without having to break the bank we suggest a subtle hint by painting your nails your favourite shade! powerful blue hues ss14mint-powder blue hues ss14

Love Niche festive outfit choices!

Planning what to wear over the festive season can be stressful, it is the season to be glitz and glam, but that doesn’t mean you have to bring out the all over sequin dress!

We have chosen 3 looks for 3 of the key days over the Christmas period; Christmas eve, Christmas day and of course New years eve!

Christmas Eve – Whether you’re out for drinks with friends or even at a family party this look is perfect. Don’t go over the top with the glitz, we have chosen a gorgeous slightly oversized drape top which has some sparkle to it. We have paired it with our favourite faux leather pencil skirt in burgundy, to bring out the colours in the top, with statement zip detail. Add one of our Love Niche reindeer necklaces to give it a festive feel or even some statement sparkle earrings!photo 2 (19) photo 1 (17)Christmas Day – On Christmas day, unless you’re going out, you tend to just lounge around the house, so donning a festive jumper is the perfect attire for Christmas Day. Our Love Niche jumper is different to your usual printed Christmas jumper, with the gold embellishment and made from soft cashmere it is a luxurious on the skin and glitzy enough for Christmas Day! We have teamed it with skinny jeans and a metal cuff.photo 3 (12)photo 4 (9)New Years Eve – To bring the New Year in, in style, you must look your best! We think that going classic is the best way, so we would choose a LBD! We have chosen a gorgeous black fitted cocktail dress with stunning crystal embellishment! To take this look from looking nice to giving it the WOW factor, we have dressed it in two different ways. The first is with one of our signature printed silk pashminas, the black fur keeps the look classic and the print adds colour to the look as well as keeping you warm! The second way we have styled this dress is by simply adding some fabulous accessories, we have gone for one of our Love Niche crystal box clutches and dual square stone and crystal earrings.photo 1 (16)photo 2 (18)Which look is your favourite?!

We hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Love Niche How To – Winter scarves!

photo 5 (3)‘Tis the season to get wrapped up, so we are going to show you briefly how to get wrapped up this season, Love Niche style

Scarves are a must have accessory during the AW months! However winter scarves can be quite difficult to get right and it can be hard to find a winter scarf that isn’t a chunky cable knit! In the studio we have an eclectic range of scarves, which are all very unique! They are versatile and you can generally wear them all year round!

(We have kept the outfit simple and all black so that you can see the scarf and how it has been worn!)

The Knot – This wool scarf is actually a chic novelty! It has a large tartan tiger printed on it, so when wearing this scarf we like to show off the tiger head! The best way we have found to show of detail, yet keep warm is to knot the scarf! (This style works really well when worn under a coat) The tartan print is a must have print of AW. This is quite a casual scarf, so we would suggest teaming it with jeans, either a plain blouse or jumper (to let the scarf stand out), then layered with your winter coat or even a fur! photo 1 (15)The neck wrap/drape – The Love Niche silk and fur pashmina scarves should be a signature accessory in any wardrobe! They are extremely versatile and we are still finding new ways of wearing them! However our favourites are the classics…the neck wrap or drape! When wearing your pashmina in these two ways, you are showing off the gorgeous unique prints and enjoying snuggling into the fur! As you can see Nisha has designed a wide contrasting collection this season with fun quirky prints and also stunning jewelled prints.photo 1 (14)photo 2 (17)If bold prints and colours just aren’t your thing, we also have a beautiful collection of silk embroidered pashminas. They are all very different, the one pictured below has been embellished with golden sequin flowers on each end of the scarf, so when draped you can see the detail front and back! They are perfect for adding a bit of glam to a fairly ordinary outfit! photo 4 (7)The body wrap – Pashminas are our favourite winter accessory, they are gorgeous as scarves and can also be used as beautiful wraps! The Love Niche signature silk pashmina is the perfect way to keep warm by covering up yet also looking super chic! Again, the fur will keep you warm, and the print certainly makes a statement! These are ideal when you’re looking for a little cover up on an evening out with friends, over your festive LBD! photo 3 (10)

How will you be wearing your scarves this winter?!

We urge you to check them out if you haven’t already! We also handpicked an unusual selection of cheese from the grainger market cheese shop for our guests to enjoy, we had everything from french brie, nettle cheese and red devil chilli cheese to sticky toffee cheese ( it tastes like fudge!) To accompany our cheese we went down to ‘mmm’ again in the grainger market to pick out some chutneys, we were advised to go for spicy sweet plum and tomato and nigella seed, Uh-mazing!

This week’s style tip.

photo (26)The Apple body type is most misconstrued shape with a lot of people thinking that it is the shape for a larger woman, this is so far from the truth! If you are an apple shape it means that you have a wider torso, therefor lacking a defined waist, you have broad shoulders, generally a fantastic bust, slim arms and legs and normally quite a flat bottom.

Now, to dress an apple shape it is pretty straight forward. You need to avoid billowing shapeless tops with no structure as they will make you look larger than you are as it has no waist definition, especially paired with black leggings as they make your slim legs look even slimmer! You should go for tops which have a built in waist for example try an empire line style as this will pull you in under your bust and skim over your stomach, a very flattering style for you! Also try a wrap top as they also give you definition. However if you were to wear a shapeless top then just pair it with a skinny belt so it will cinch in your waist giving your body shape. Remember you should try to go for longer tops which stop after your hips, tunics should be a staple in your wardrobe.

Necklines in dresses and tops; go for v-necks to show off some of that fantastic cleavage, plunging necklines, strapless or scoop necks also look good on you. Please avoid high necklines such as polo necks, off the shoulder, boat neck and halter necks are also not the greatest style for you. These will all make you shoulders look too broad, something you want to avoid.

Trousers and jeans look amazing on your with those fab pins! But avoid skinny black jeans, it will only make your legs look too slim making your proportions off. Try a bootcut or flare jean to balance out your shoulders. Straight leg trousers are always a winner too! To make your bottom look a bit fuller try going for jeans or trousers which have big pockets on the bum.

Now we have picked 3 looks for the studio for you to try. First up we have a work wear look. This look is perfect for autumn, the black oversized ‘coatigan’ is perfect for your shape as it still has structure, it is a longer style so it is an ideal length for you. The oversized collar creates a v slimming you middle. The white blouse looks great to create a monochrome look, again with a V-neck to flatter your bust. The trousers are slightly high waisted, which we recommend for your shape, they are slim leg but with the monochrome pattern they don’t make your legs look too slim. photo 1 (41)photo 2 (43)photo 3 (34)Being slightly top heavy you might feel like you can’t pull off a fur coat, however this ostrich feather coat is the ideal coat for you as it has a wide leather waistband to give your waist definition! It also has a V-neck so again this is very flattering for your shape. Teamed with slim leg black trousers this look is a winner for A/W! The dark blonde fur is also a fantastic colour this season. photo 4 (29)photo 5 (19)When picking an evening dress to wear we would recommend you picking mini or midi styles, to show off some leg! As these a/w months can get very cold so we have picked a midi to show you. This style is very flattering for you, it is fitted but not clingy and the black side panels give the illusion of an hourglass figure! The reptile print is a major trend this season also! The gold plate belt adds further waist definition. We have teamed it with one of our favourite fur pashminas and statement stud bag. photo 2 (45)photo 3 (36)
