Love Niche at the Living North Christmas Fair.

We posted on our Twitter and Facebook offering tickets for the Living North Fair which was held at Newcastle Racecourse at the beginning of the month and we received so much interest. Even so we were amazed at the amount of lovely people who visited our stall at the 4 daylong Christmas event. Especially given how frantically we were rushing around to get our stall looking as gorgeous as possible.

With a quick pit stop to Ikea to buy decorations for our stand to make it look as gorgeous as possible we were all ready to go. Our hard work paid off as we received so many compliments on our stands appearance, most people asking us where are lights were from, so we let them in on our little secret.

As well as our gorgeous lighting, our customer’s absolutely loved the Studio Collection, which was flying off the rails. Our most popular items from both the Studio Collection and Love Niche London diffusion line had to be our gorgeous fur trimmed poncho, perfect for keeping warm this winter. Our fur collar was also very popular amongst buyers, the perfect addition to a winter wardrobe. Ideal to throw over a coat, a top or even wear with an evening dress.

You also absolutely loved our Tartan and dogtooth print Sarah Blanket Cape , a must have item for this season. Wear as a scarf for a pop of colour, or wear as a cape and belt in the middle for a effortless catwalk look.

Love Niche London Fashion Show: Pop-up Shop and Catwalk Show

Love Niche London played host to a pop-up boutique and catwalk show at As You Like It in Jesmond last week to celebrate the launch of our brand new website www.lovenichelondon.com

The guests were welcomed by us with a class of bubbly as they all took front row seats and patiently waited for the show to begin.

The catwalk showcased models wearing our brand new Love Niche London collection which is now available to buy online. There were various looks created on the catwalk with the models hair styled by North-East’s award winning hairdressers Hooker & Young. The looks were from casual day looks to glamorous night out styles, all of which were then available to buy from the pop-up shop at the end of the show. Alongside the clothing was decadent costume jewellery, scarves and clutch bags.

The highlight of the evening was the fashion show, giving the fashionistas in the room a taste of what to expect from the studio’s brand new diffusion line Love Niche London. The collection brings you the best of British high street fashion at guilt-free prices. All the looks shown on the fashion show were in the price bracket of £15- £55. The looks were styled by fashion stylist and owner of Love Niche Studio Nisha Vedhara.

The collection was dominated by current season trends including soft sorbet shades and winter florals, with dresses and blazer style jackets complementing cigarette patterned trousers with bralet crop tops, and finally outerwear for the upcoming winter weather. Each look was styled and complimented with some of the most luxurious jewellery.

Current Miss Newcastle GB Nicole Bailey closed the show for us wearing the Love Niche London Esme Dress.

The night continued by a style presentation from Head Stylist Paul from Hooker & Young and Love Niche Stylist Nisha Vedhara giving the audience an insight into the makeover of Rhona, our raffle prize winner from our last fashion show at Jesmond Dene House.

We closed the evening with the ladies rushing to our pop-up shop to make some purchases. We were left overwhelmed by the interest the women of Newcastle showed in our brand new collection. Overall it was a fantastic night leaving a lot of smiles on many beautiful faces.

How do you avoid going over your baggage allowance on holiday? simple, take a capsule wardrobe. This allows you to mix and match garments without taking all your Worldly possessions. It means outfits are planned whilst you’re abroad saving the time and stress on finding something to wear.

We’ve put together a selection of pieces that won’t tip the scales and are easily interchangeable, creating new looks with minimal effort.

A one piece is always a good place to start when it comes to packing, it’s simple and only requires the addition of accessories and heels. Our favourite has to be this one, not only is it a stunning colour but it can be worn in 20 different styles!

Styling Lace

For a long time lace had been associated with evening dresses and cocktail attire but it can also be worn in a relaxed day time fashion by contrasting fabrics and giving it a more modern approach. Of course we still love the elegance of delicate lace gowns, they project sophistication but we are also fans of the lace back tees shown below.

Seen on some of the largest fashion house shows this season lace is here to stay this season but don’t assume all lace has to be black. We show you 3 ways to wear lace, from day to night and also work.

Day – We’ve teamed this printed tee and lace panel back with a pair of slim fit white trousers for a slight tailored casual look. If you want to show a little more skin dare to bear with the full lace back tee.

Night – This is where you can go all out with lace, from sheer to sequinned or coloured it’s all perfectly acceptable and these Spring apricot and blush shades create a soft romantic look opposed to the dramatic feel of blacks and deep blue.

Work – Now this can be a little more tricky to style for work as you don’t want to appear too dressed up, so how do you get that happy medium?

The easiest solution is lace panels! We love this dress available in navy too which has the slim panels of sheer lace on the arms, whilst the rest of the dress is plain and form fitting.

Trend Report: Blues

As Spring is officially around the corner it seems a great time to talk about one of our favourite shades for the new season, blue. We’ve seen various hues on the models at fashion week and lets not forget the stunning Lupita Nyong’o wearing THAT amazing Prada gown in a perfect powder blue.

What we like most is that the colour can be worn by anyone with any skin tone by simply tweaking the shade slightly, Lupita Nyong’o demonstrates how a pale blue can offset a darker skin tone beautifully and with fair skin a deeper blue or turquoise shade looks great.

Here at Love Niche we have selected some of our favourite pieces to create 3 outfit ideas using clothing in this Seasons hottest hue.

Look 1 – The Weekend Wardrobe

When it comes to the weekend we want to relax a little but this doesn’t mean lowering the style stakes. This is often our chance to wear something a little more edgy especially if you’ve wore tailored attire all week.

We’ve selected these popular faux snake print trousers with a slightly structured white top to pick out the accents in the trousers and given it some attitude with a stunning leather jacket and oversized clutch.

Look 2 – The Work Dress

Another trend for the new season is florals which touched upon in our last post here The combination of the navy with the floral print is heavenly and looks formal enough to wear to work but shows individuality and style. We chose this dress as it is an item you can take from day to night easily by switching up those heels and adding an evening clutch.

Look 3 – The Dinner Date

Whether this is with family, friends, or loved one a lace dress is always a winner. It’s adds just enough sassiness without looking overdone, the sheer lace sleeves and neckline give a sophisticated touch whilst the lower section is simple which contrasts nicely. We often get asked what jackets to wear with evening dresses, for this particular dress we would pair it with one of our soft faux leather trench jackets. They’re lightweight and look incredibly smart not to mention versatile.

Get The Look: Fresh Florals

Here at Love Niche we like to keep up with the new trends and bring you the latest in new season fashion. We have loads of new items in at the moment so will be showing you the best picks and how to style them.

As the weather has turned towards Spring the bloom prints are out and this stunning dress is perfect. You can see our previous post on the runway prints here

This could be worn day or night with a quick change of heels and accessories, the print is bold so try not to add too much fuss to the outfit or your in danger of fashion overkill. For day we would wear it a little more casual yet polished with the pastel pink trench in lightweight fabric. This jacket is brand new in the studio so snap it up!

For evening try some heels and an oversized clutch, again keep it simple and opt for a pendant necklace or gold cuff.

Love Niche SS14 Collection preview

Over the past few weeks we have been posting about SS14 trends, and have shown you images and inspiration pictures from the SS14 shows. The Love Niche SS14 collection has started to come into the studio, so we thought we would give you a little sneaky preview of what trends we will be introducing this season!

First we have this lightweight cotton twin set, perfect for summer, white is a must have colour during hotter months and the beautiful striped colour block in neutral tones is bang on trend, especially with the golden metallic tone. Yellow lime is a big colour this season, we have these gorgeous fine knits in the studio in either the vest (left) or cardigan (right). Metallic stitching and stud details on the vest top. These are perfect for layering and adding texture to summer looks. This beautiful white blouse is also combining major trends with the jewelled panel down the sleeves, the light fabric and slightly boxy silhouette, can easily be dressed up or down. A must have versatile piece in any wardrobe. This jacket is possibly our favourite piece in the entire collection. The super soft leather, the waterfall open front and the silver jewel bead details, just make for a beautiful summer leather! Available in tan and pastel pink! One of our favourite trends this season is pastel leather, and this amazingly soft lightweight leather oversized collar jacket is definitely on our wish list! Perfect for summer layering and again can easily be dressed up or down depending on occasion.Pastels and prints, what a perfect combo! This fine knit printed striped jumper is a must have for S/S, ideal for those breezy summer days with skinny jeans and jewelled flats! As well as pastels being a huge trends, bright neons are also a must have, especially during the summer months! This fine lace knit layered jumper is ideal for a summer look teamed with light wash jeans. Pastel blue is one of our favourite colours of this season, we love this light chiffon blouse with v-neck. We have this blouse in another 2 colours; white and pastel pink. Very versatile to be worn with many looks! This evening dress combines lace and cobalt blue perfectly! We absolutely adore it, ideal for a glam event!

The new season is gradually starting to come in to the Love Niche Studio! Since the weather is still pretty gloomy and we can’t don our favourite S/S14 trends just yet, we have been looking for a way to introduce a bit of summer into our daily looks. Luckily, the new collection of Love Niche earrings has arrived! Everything from nude pastels, coloured stones, crystals and pearls!

We love these cream and gold disc earrings with pearl details. They could easily be worn day to night, for any occasion! For an evening look sleek your hair back off your face and let the earrings do the talking, wear with your favourite LBD and killer heels, add a red lip for extra wow factor! Trend of the week- SS14 silhouettes and shapes

Spring/Summer 14 is a season of beautiful shapes and silhouettes, in our opinion it is going to be a very feminine season ahead, and we love it! We have taken inspirations from many designers, not only using girly colours in our up and coming SS14 collection but also the cuts and shapes. We are loving the contrast between the feminine full skirted silhouette with cinched waist and the masculine tailoring.

DROPPED WAIST – The dropped waist dress has been quite a big hit on the runway this coming season, however it is going to be a “marmite” trend, you will either love it or hate it! Some designers have revamped the 1920’s style flapper dress such as Calvin Klein and Lanvin. Victoria Beckham has designed a gorgeous collection full of dropped hemline and cinched belted waist, very feminine chic! Roberto Cavalli has incorporated the dropped waist into the collection with stunning crochet lace maxi dresses, we adore!

FULL SKIRT – The full skirt is the most feminine shape of the season, this hourglass look is a must have of the season! The full skirt doesn’t have to just be below the knee, you can take inspiration from Saint Laurent and go for a fuller mini length dress! We are loving Peter Pilotto full skirted looks, with a slight dipped hem, these looks also tie into the boxy trend which is major this season with the stiff boxy fabricated crop tops. Christian Dior has designed gorgeous eye catching full skirted dresses.

TAILORING – Tailoring is a strong look this season, but don’t just think stiff trouser suits! Tailoring is immaculately shown at Saint Laurent and Chanel with boyfriend coats and blazers teamed with skinny cut trousers. Peter Pilotto has shown a different side to tailoring with boxy overcoats and ruffled tailored skirts. Bermuda shorts are a huge trend this season, with many designers showing them in fashion week, we love Victoria Beckham’s take on Bermuda shorts. The Bermuda shorts also fit in with the relaxed tailored safari look which will be a must have style this SS14.

THE MAXI – Every spring/summer the maxi makes a return on the runways, this season is no exception! Maxi skirts or maxi dresses, we urge you to introduce the maxi into your wardrobe this summer, we will be investing in bright bold printed maxi skirts for sure! Chanel showed us maxi skirts in crisp white and off the shoulder maxi dresses in tweed like fabric. We love Lanvin’s printed flowing maxi dress with thigh split. Christian Dior showed elegant pastel high waist maxi skirts.

Trend of the week – Must have prints SS14

Last week we did our first post about the must have colours for SS14, in our series of “Trend of the week” posts. This week it is all about prints, SS14 has gone print crazy, from feminine florals to edgy abstract designs!

FLORALS – They have made an elegant triumphant return this SS14! But forget those chintzy florals! You have so much choice this season, with a broad collection of different prints ranging from pretty 3d floral clusters at Giambattista Valli, embroidered floral details at Erdem and oriental Japanese style floral prints as seen at Marni and Hermes. Elie Saab also wowed us with a gorgeous collection, the poppy print is one of our faves!

STRIPES – We have seen lots of stripes on the runway this SS14 and we are loving them in all sizes; thick, bold or thin, horizontal and vertical! Burberry showed gorgeous thick bold horizontal striped pencil skirts and sheer skirts with bold striped knickers peeking through. Fendi showed stripes in some unusual ways by layering different shades of fabrics to create an ombre effect to their dresses. Stripes were also shown at Vanessa Bruno in the form of zebra stripes and also bold coloured striped high waisted shorts and matching tops!

CHECKS – Last season they were huge and tartan was one of the biggest trends of the season, and they carry on with their dominance on the runway into SS14. They have had a SS14 overhaul, think colour, when picking your checks anything from candyfloss pink to acidic yellow hues! Take your inspiration from House of Holland who showed a gorgeous collection at LFW. Sass and Bide also showed checks in their SS14 collection with monochrome check and sheer white check jumpers also pink check sections on maxi skirts.

NOVELTY – We saw a lot of unusual and eclectic prints this SS14, from fun iconic lip motif prints at Giles, to butterflies at Vanessa Bruno, then ranging to the very creatively stunning yet unusual collection at Christopher Kane who had cut out petals (some in very questionable places!!) slogan “petal” and “flower” printed jumpers and flower anatomy printed on silk and sheer dresses and jumpers. Ashish is another designer who showed a lot of slogan prints in the collections this season, a favourite being “Coca-Cola” shown on tops, dresses, jumpers with cobalt blue sequined arms and even trousers, which were also printed with Arabian words.Image credit to style.com
